We are continually making improvements but as it is a large site the progress is gradual and has been impacted by the extra social distancing measures we have needed to make for everyone's safety. Lovely location for this zoo set around Dudley Castle. Dudley Castle, part of the Dudley Zoo complex; magnificent, stunning views, historic remains and a fascinating visitor centre opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II in June 1994. As we are a charity, we currently have a campaign running to raise £800,000 required for a new Orang utan enclosure. We decided to have a trip to Dudley Zoo as it holds many happy memories and is pretty local. It’s so upsetting to see how distressed they all are. I was somewhat dubious visiting Dudley Zoo after reading some of the reviews on this site, however, we were pleasantly surprised. We have looked at the idea of a marquee but due to the placement being at the top of a hill it gets very windy overnight so would not be secure enough to stay in place. We wanted a nice day out and maybe even a night away so I took to google in a search. Reviewed 1 July 2016 via mobile . There's a great brand in town: Dudley Zoological Gardens Housing over 1,300 animals, making up around 200 species, Dudley Zoo can offer you the chance to see some the most beautiful and rare animals that live on our planet! The Zoo is hilly (due to it being situated in castle grounds which were often built at the top of hills) and I'm glad that you were pleased with the one way system and social distancing measures we have in place.
